Bible History of the Jews
God brought Abraham out of Ur of the Chaldees, and promised him that Sarah his wife would bear a son saying, “And thou shalt call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his seed after him.” (Genesis 17:19.) And while God also told Abraham he would make his son Ishmael – by a handmaid – a great nation, his covenant was established with Isaac and Jacob. (Genesis 17:20-21.)
And, “this word of promise came to Abraham and Sarah concerning Isaac, and Isaac and Rebecca concerning Jacob. God loved Jacob and hated Esau. (Romans 9:6-13.)
God told Abraham his seed would be in bondage in Egypt for 400 years, and then delivered and given the Promised Land. Jacob’s sons – the patriarchs of the children of Israel – sold their brother Joseph into bondage, because they hated his words. Joseph became second in the Egyptian kingdom, and when Jacob and his sons needed food, they ended up in Egypt. That led to 400 years of bondage.
God saw the afflictions of his people and heard their cries, and with great signs and miracles in the sight of Pharoah, delivered his people from bondage bringing them through the Red Sea, and destroying one of the most powerful armies ever to exist.
Then God led them through the wilderness, with a pillar of smoke by day and a pillar of fire by night. He fed them with manna and met every need they had. He blessed them with his right judgments, true laws, and good statutes and commandments (Nehemiah 9:13-15).
The Jews had SO MUCH to be thankful for – for ever! But instead the apostate Jews “dealt proudly, and hardened their necks, and hearkened not to [God’s] commandments, and refused to obey, neither were mindful of [God’s] wonders that [he] didst among them; but hardened their necks,” Nehemiah 9:16-17. Time and again God was merciful, sending prophets to tell the Jews to obey; and time and again they refused.
After killing off the entire generation of cowardly rebels who cried all night in their tents over the THOUGHT of conquering the land which he sware unto their fathers (see Numbers 13 and 14), God gave the children of Israel a great deliverance over kings Sihon and Og in the Brooks of Arnon, doubling the size of the land they received and striking fear in the hearts of the other nations, Numbers 21; Joshua 2. Then God gave the land he’d promised to the children of Israel, and told them from Mt. Gerizim how he would bless them AND LET THEM KEEP THIS LAND if they obeyed him, and on Mt. Ebal how he would curse them AND TAKE THE LAND if they disobeyed him (see Deuteronomy 11 and 27).
With time, God divided the kingdom of Israel after kings David and Solomon. With few exceptions the kings of Israel and Judah were evil, striving to outdo each other in their idolatry and blood shed. The ten northern tribes, under evil king Jeraboam, established a false religious system with golden calves. The doom of Israel was thereby set and sealed. Jews killed Jews by the thousands, and ten thousands. The Jews forsook God and went whoring after all the strange gods and strange flesh, killing the prophets God kindly sent them to remind them to obey.
Finally, Israel and Judah were cut off and taken into captivity. On a few occasions the ultimate restoration of the obedient righteous Jews was adumbrated, such as with good King Hezekiah and Ezra and Nehemiah when the temple was restored at the end of the Babylonian captivity.
After the inter testamental period – during which Antiochus Epiphanies (the great type of the Antichrist Beast Obama) severely persecuted the Jews and destroyed the temple – Christ came to this earth. He ministered to the Jews. The Jews killed the Lord Jesus. Then the apostles ministered to the Jews. They persecuted them. Acts 7 describes the apostle Stephen telling them this same history – then they gnashed on him with their teeth and stoned him to death.
The Apostle Paul was converted, and taught by Christ that it was time for blindness to come to Israel while God called out a people for his name from among the Gentiles. “It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles,” Acts 13:46.
God left you dark hearted rebellious Jews in such a condition that you are incapable of seeing or understanding the truth. When you pretend to read Moses you have a veil on your heart. You are a sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers; you have forsaken the Lord, provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, and gone away backward. The more you are stricken of God, the more you revolt; your whole head is sick and your heart faint. In other words, you are a bunch of cursed, perverted cowards without cure! (See Isaiah 1:2-6.)
God promised that because they rejected Christ the Cornerstone – and the Jews would be a hissing, proverb, byword and reproach among the nations. For the centuries since they killed the Lord Jesus, the temple was destroyed by Titus; and the Jews have been expelled from many nations; massacred; put in ghettos; outlawed; and stripped of their worldly goods time and again. GOD DID THAT BECAUSE THEY WOULD NOT OBEY.
